DEAD SEA SCROLLS LUNCH AND TOUR | 12:30 p.m. Join us on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library for an exclusive Dead Sea Scrolls Lunch and Tour featuring guest speaker Tyler Jarvis, a UCLA PhD researcher in Hebrew Bible from the American Jewish University and Yale Divinity School. EXAMINING CULTS | 1-3 p.m. via Zoom through March 27. Despite a knowledge of cults having entered into our culture, we continue to harbor many misconceptions about them. We don’t under why a man like Jim Jones, with his bent on “revolutionary suicide,” was able to hold such a sway over people. This series will examine cults in general, and then probe deep into specific case studies like Jonestown, Waco, and a more modern cult, NXIVM. Taught by Jason Hensley. STUART DYNASTY: SHAKESPEARE’S COMMON FOLK | 1-3 p.m. through May 8. William Shakespeare lived from 1564 to 1616, a period known as Early Modern England, a time of transition from the medieval to the modern. It is generally considered to span the dynasties of the Tudors and the Stuarts. Shakespeare lived in the middle of that span, and as a keen observer, gave us riveting portraits of the people and events of his era.
