Oregon State Beavers beat Baylor, advance to NCAA Tournament Elite 8: Live updates recap

Oregon State advanced to the second NCAA Tournament Elite Eight in program history Friday by taking out second-seeded Baylor, 72-67, in the Lexington Regional semifinal.

It was the Bears' first loss since Nov. 18 and only their second this season.

Marie Gulich scored a game-high 26 points and Kat Tudor added 16 points to lead the Beavers (26-7). OSU outrebounded Baylor, one of the nation's most dominant teams on the glass, 38-37, and held the Bears to 39 percent shooting.

Oregon State's nine-point lead with six minutes to play was whittled to three with 67 seconds remaining on a three-pointer -- just Baylor's second of the game -- by Alexis Morris to bring the score to 67-64.

After two OSU free throws, Morris hit another three over the defense of Katie McWilliams to make the score 69-67 with 40 seconds left.

McWilliams then answered with a corner three with 17 seconds left for a five-point lead that would hold for the final margin after Baylor's last two opportunities came up dry.

OSU will play Sunday in the Elite Eight against either top-seeded Louisville or fourth-seeded Stanford.
