Chiefs of staff of the CIS armed forces discuss security issues in Bishkek

Bishkek, Sept. 12 / Kabar /. A meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Commonwealth of Independent States member states is held at Ala-Archa state residence, the press service of the Kyrgyz General Staff reported.

Delegations from the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan participated in the work of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS member states. From the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Colonel Kubanychbek Orozmatov took part in the meeting.

The holding of this meeting on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic once again stressed the active role of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic in developing and improving military cooperation between the CIS member states.

Before the beginning of the meeting, the members of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff laid a wreath at the eternal flame on Victory Square.

In the course of the work, the meeting participants noted that the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff is the deliberative body where a constructive exchange of views on the pressing issues of ensuring military security, both individual states and the Commonwealth as a whole, is carried out.

"The unity of our views allows us to express our confidence that we will continue to develop our cooperation in the format of the Commonwealth in the interests of ensuring the stability and security of our states," Colonel Orozmatov said in his speech.

At the meeting of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS member states, questions were heard about the activities of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states in 2017, cooperation in the field of engineering support, training of demining experts for the armed forces of the CIS member states.

Participants of the meeting considered the issues of security of the states of the Central Asian region from international terrorism and regional extremist organizations, and also considered the draft Plan of Work of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS countries for 2018.

Summing up the meeting of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, Orozmatov stressed that this meeting once again proved the common approach and views of the military departments in ensuring military security of the Commonwealth.
