Rohas Tecnic clinches RM300mil Laos job

PETALING JAYA: Rohas Tecnic Bhd, formerly known as Tecnic Group Bhd, has secured an RM300mil contract in Laos to supply and construct transmission lines, substations and distribution lines.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday, the company said that it would commence the job in the second half of the year and it would take 24 months to complete it.

Its subsidiary, Rohas-Euco Industries Bhd (REI), had received the contract from Electricite du Laos, adding that the contract would not have any material impact on the group’s gearing.

“The project is expected to contribute positively to the group’s profitability in the year ending 2017,” it said.

The project would be REI’s second engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning project in Laos. It completed its first project there in 2014.

“The track record earned in the previous project with timely execution and good work quality provided the confidence in the Laotian authorities to grant REI another project,” it said.
