One “Crazy Callen Weekend” down, and another filled with even more fun is set for the “Grand Finale Weekend” of the 129th-annual Irrigation Festival.
A highlight each year, the Grand Parade set for noon on Saturday, May 11, sees locals and visitors alike span both sides of Washington Street for more than a mile. Nearly 90 entries are expected this year to travel from Dunlap Avenue by KeyBank to the Sequim Village Shopping Center at 651 W. Washington St. (see lineup on A-5).
The parade features the festival’s royalty, Sequim pioneers, marching bands, floats, local agencies and dignitaries, first responders and more.
Logging Show
The Sequim Logging Show will run concurrently to the festival May 10-11 next to Carrie Blake Community Park as always. Late last year, the show branched off on its own for insurance reasons to become its own 501(c)4 nonprofit organization.
Organizers said it’s amicable and they hope for a seamless transition that shouldn’t be noticeable to the public.
Truck and tractor pulls go from noon-6 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. The Logger’s Ball with Brother Townsend starts at 7 p.m. Friday with fireworks at dusk.
The Logging Show goes from 2-6 p.m. Saturday.

Classic Show
Last year, organizers of the Classic Show (cars and trucks of many makes and models) saw its biggest year ever with 249 entries. This year’s event returns from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at 250 Center Park Way.
Registration online is available through Thursday, May 9, and at the show from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, May 11. Registration is $15 in advance, or $20 at the show.

Vickie Maples, the festival executive director, said there won’t be a cruise along the parade route this year, but organizers hope to rework the event to have it back in 2025.
Historic Walking Tour
Dick Cays and Deborah Keeting-Hansen lead a tour of Sequim starting at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, starting at Sequim Museum and Arts, 544 N. Sequim Ave.
Organizers said participants will walk along Sequim Avenue to hear about the city’s history before returning to the museum. Participants are encouraged to come early, with a voluntary donation accepted for the museum.
Golf tournament
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula’s third-annual golf tournament is set for 1 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at The Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road. The register or sponsor a hole, contact Janet Gray at jgray@bgc-op.org or 360-683-8095.
Operetta finishes run
‘The Addams Family’ musical finishes its two-week run in Sequim High School’s Auditorium, 533 N. Sequim Ave., this weekend. Shows start at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 9-11, with tickets online at sequimschools.org, or at the door. Adults tickets are $17 each, and $12 for students with ASB card.
